Default cams and stuff

I was shootin the bull with the service mngr. at North Country HD this morning and was requesting a ball park price for changing out the tensioner shoes which he said would run about $400 parts/labor for the shoes, adj. rods and upgrade bearings which seemed resonable to me. He suggested that considering the bike has about 30k on it that I do the cams while in there which would add about $200 more. He suggested the se204 or se205 cams for the type of riding I do.
I would like some opinions on if you think these prices are in the ballpark and have any of you changed from stock to the cams suggested above and did you notice much power difference.
Thanks for the input.

$600 bucks, give or take a bit? Thats a great deal. My dealer gave me a "ball park" quote of around $1200 to do cams... only difference is we were talking non HD geared cams, but those ought to be cheaper than any HD cam.

A 95 kit includes "pistons".

I have about $700 inAndrews gear drive cams and adjustable pusrods, but I did the work myself. The good thing is, I won't have to do it again (no tensioners to wear out). Another thing to consider is the Andrews cams that allow you to convert to the roller chain setup that is in the '06 and newer Dyna's. My 2 cents.

My buddy at work has a 95 kit on his 99 fatboy and is running the SE204s It has good torque, but its alittle soft on topend power because the heads are not ported
He also is running the forged SE pistons, with around 9.8 compression and he is using a SE ignition box and it has a pinging problem when its hot.

My Dyna has a Head-Quarters 95 kit with the .575 Firestorm GDcams and ported heads with the HQ ignition. This set up has a VERY broad power band and alot better timming curves
I smoke that fat boy every time we go out!

I would recomed Gear Drive cams, there are many to choose from from Andrews, Head-Quarters and Crane
