Thinking about moving away from sythetic and moving towards more frequent (every 3000) oil changes. Tired of the box of marbles sound of synthetics. Leaning towards valvoline vr1. UOA reports that I've seen for vr1 have been really good. Anyone running vr1? Other recommendations?

I have been running valvoline 20w50 conventional 4 stroke mc oil and change it once a year or 3k. Whichever comes first. Contemplating synthetic. What were you running that you didn't care for and was this on stock internals?
Been using VR1 20/50 and Brad Penn 20/50 both non syn. Mostly VR1 due to accessibility. Don't get caught up in synthetic hype, any name brand 20w/50 is plenty good enough. Use either Brad Penn or Valvoline VR1 with complete confidence.

I run the Valvoline VR1 straight 50 weight in my Evo and have no complaints.
After running synthetics in my Sporty for a couple years I've changed to cheap-a$$ Castrol 20W-50 from Wally-World. Change it twice a year. I do the same for my Dyna now. I don't buy the marketing BS around synth - especially when it is going into a 1930's technology engine like my Harley. I do spend a little extra on the filter (Wix) but that may be wasted money as well I'm thinking.

Been running Mobile 1. Between 3 bikes have over 40, 000 miles with Mobile 1. Keep hearing how valve train is quiter with conventional oil. Not really sure synthetic is worth the extra cost. Valvoline VR1 has some impressive UOA's on bobs the oil guy. One of the main reasons I've stayed with M1 is due to the high temps I regularly ride in 100 plus. But now I'm starting to think about going back to conventional oil and just change it out every 3000 to 3500 miles. Plus there can be alot of sandy dust in the air here and I'm thinking the more frequent oil changes will help keep the oil cleaner in terms of silica.
