Dyna Seat Encyclopedia
I always liked the looks of the stock 2010 fxd seat but after riding for 1/2 hour I have a hard time standing up straight
The Sundowner is a comfy seat but it sat me higher and closer to the tank and I never liked the looks of it. I can sit on my Mustang wide vintage all day and then some. I also like how narrow the Mustang is, it makes it alot easier to walk the bike around and pull it out of my wheel chock when seated
Seat is firm and contours well to the bike. Texture of the leather/vynl locks you in. I've had the seat for 3 years now. The first 5000 miles it wasn't a problem, even on 400 mile days. Increasing lower back problems cause me to be barely able to walk when I get off the bike, even if it's just a short 20 mile ride to a buddy's house. Shitty roads are a definite contributor. I picked this seat up because I couldn't stay on the stock street bob seat, kept sliding off as I like to ride very aggresively.
Pros- relatively cheap, nice shape, good for around town and bar hopping. Great for younger riders who don't have back problems yet.
Cons- hard on the tailbone after a while. Not much cushioning. Horrible choice if you have lower back problems.
Here's the Mustang Squareback. I had the Mustang Fastback on my old bike, and wanted something with a little more padding and a bit more backrest. It has more than I originally thought from seeing the online photos of the seat on the various motorcycle sites. It was a bit shocking at first, but it's grown on me and much more comfortable than the stocker.
It is about and inch or so narrower than the stock, but doesn't appear to sit me back any closer or farther. I'd say it raises you up a smidge from stock..

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Put it on and went for a ride this evening. Within ten miles, my lower back was screaming at me and there was zero support for my cheeks. I rode for around 70 miles, and that was enough. I found if I scooted up onto the pillion, all was fine, but I guess you can't ride like that for long. The seat had to be designed for someone with a 28" or less inseam, as it had me so low that at 30" my knees were tilted upwards, causing the low back pain.
It's going back into the box again tomorrow, and probably never will be seen again, until it's time to sell the bike, then stock it will be. This seat may work for some, but for me it is beyond painful. Thus endith the review. . .tp dd50
Actually the worst stock Harley seat I have ever owned. tp
I actually like the way stock seat fits (without optional 'spacer'). I am easily flat-footed while stopped. Bad news is foam -- it is stupid/worthless.
Got a saddleman RS -- basically a tufted explorer. It puts me up and forward just a little bit ... still ok. Mix of foam and gel is super nice. With backrest it is awesome but I don't use backrest very often. Without backrest the shape of seat itself does not fit my bottom side. I tried/really wanted it to work but it just doesn't for me. Highly recommended for someone with right shape bottom.
