I have noticed that we are constantly replying to seat advice/ recommendation threads and thought it would be a good idea for us to consolidate them into a single thread potentially making this a sticky

So i figure if each of us posts a pic of our seat with some details about it we could have an "encyclopedia" of sorts.

I will start

Bike: 2014 Dyna Street Bob FXDB
Seat vendor: Sicksaddles.com
Material: Full Leather diamond stitched
options/custom: 1in forward bolster and 1in wider 2up pillion
Pros: Super comfortable, great solo for long trips, under WOT keeps your but glued.
Cons: None as of yet

Had started a similar thread last year while searching (still searching) for a seat.

Seat experiences so far.....

Me - 6' / 34" inseam / 205lbs / 34" arm length

Bike: 2013 Switchback

Seat: Harley Davidson Sundowner Dual
Material: Vinyl
options/custom: None that I'm aware of
Position as compared to stock: Up 1" and forward 1"
Pros: Better material / foam than stock. Thicker cushion, slightly firmer.
Cons: Moved me forward too much. Felt too cramped.

Seat: Harley Davidson Sundowner Solo
Material: Vinyl
options/custom: None that I'm aware of
Position as compared to stock: Up 1" and back 1"
Pros: Better material / foam than stock. Thicker cushion, slightly firmer. Fits me nicely. My wife is using this seat on her FLD (we both have FLD's). She's 5' 8" w/ 29" inseam. I could live with this seat.
Cons: While I like the seat, it locks the rider into one position.

Seat: Harley Davidson Tallboy
Material: Vinyl
options/custom: None that I'm aware of
Position as compared to stock: Up 2" and back 1.75"
Pros: Better material / foam than stock. Thicker cushion, slightly firmer. Fits me nicely. I actually bought this seat used. I've used it on a 2,6xx mile tour last year. This seat works great with the floor boards of the FLD and my long'ish inseam. Allows for lots of different foot placement during the long haul. I had taken a passenger on the seat and she thought it was a great improvement over stock.
Cons: While I like the seat, it does raise the rider considerably. My 1st day out with this seat found me almost dropping the bike at parking lot speeds. Rider interaction with the handlebars and windshield (if any) changes due to seat height. The seat is HUGE. It looks like a vinyl tumor on the bike.

Seat: Corbin Solo Tour w/ backrest
Material: Leather
options/custom: Lots
Position as compared to stock: Down slightly and back 1"
Pros: Construction is 1st rate. Leather is riveted to the underside of the pan. Pan is made of tougher material than stock. Foam is very firm. Is the only I know of that can lock to the bike. Is the only seat I know of with a backrest that locks on the underside of the seat...harder to steal. I bought this seat last Oct used. So far, I only have about 20 miles or so on it. Compared to the stock seat, I feel every ripple in the road. I have shocks on the way that should help alleviate the kidney busting nature of the seat. Love the backrest as well.
Cons: I like the seat a lot. However......
If you have an FLD, as stated on the Corbin website, using the Solo tour, the pillion mount won't fit. I think there are dimensional differences on the rear fender of the FLD that makes this problematic. Should also mention on the Dual tour, Corbin's website states you can't the use the QD sissy bar / luggage rack since the passenger seciton of the seat is so wide, it squishes between the brackets of the sissy bar.

On your seat, having your ridden in the rain, and does it collect water at the stitching?

Also, hopefully enough people chime in with detailed descriptive info so that we can sticky it.

 

I haven't been in the rain with it yet, but im sure there will be some puddling eventually especially if it is just sitting there.

I hope so too, we seem to have a new seat question pop up every other day!
so instead of creating countless threads we could all consolidate info here.

 

I have the stock seat on my SBob and don't think it is real bad....yet. I had an HD Brawler on my Sportster and I liked it though it wasn't a lot different than the stock Nightster seat in shape and contour. Just more comfortable and leather covered. There are lots of vendors out there offering solo seats for 1/3 less than that one, but my question is, is how are you going to determine if you like a saddle without buying it, and riding it to know? Quality is important, but so is fit and that is the hard part matching the a$$ with any of them. What's the trick?

Pros: best looking seat on the market. Perfect for local rides
Cons: leaves ur butt sore on long rides. I wouldnt use it for another long trip again

Mustang Runaround. By far the best looking seat on the market. I've only ridden it for a few hours so I don't know about long distance riding. <br/>It is very comfortable, drops you down and back and locks you into the bike very well. It also shows off the bones of the bike good. <br/>I don't have many complaints about the stock seat , so this one should be better. Not being a lard **** and all.
