When I got my 2012 Rk after riding a 1996 RK for 3 years, I did not know it HAD to be in neutral to start. I had one intitial awkward moment myself, I feel your pain.
Thanks guys for both the well needed sympathy and humor that made me bust a gut in the office!
Happy I got out today albeit briefly with cold and wet. Another 8 inches of snow tomorrow. Which hopefully will pan out into a stellar busy weekend. Only a few more weeks of our ski season then a little break time to put in some miles on both the MC and bicycle (I still have to get ready for race season)
This was the best kind of lesson. Free, and one you won't forget.
Gotta hand it to you, at least you manned up and let us know what the problem was. A lot of people would've slunk away, not to be heard from in a long time. It helps everyone here when a poster follows up with results.
Try stalling your bike at a busy intersection and then not be able to start it because it's not in neutral and people are pissy, and you feel stupid and.... Yep, I did that.
Then do the very same thing the next day in front of a half dozen neighbors who are checking out your new bike. The one that won't start.
OH MY GOD, worse then the worst blond moment, my bike wasn't in neutral! I can't believe myself what a Putz!
I trailered a sportster all the way to a dealership once to have the mechanic put it in neutral (after I parked it and put it in 1st gear as usual), and start it right up!
He didn't charge me the usual shop rate..... LOL, But I did make Columbus, GA harley history that day.....
