The issue I have with the detachable hardware is the bags tend to stick out too far. Any of the above suggested do a better job of keeping the bags relatively close to the rear fender struts?
The Cycle Vision ones don't stick out as bad as the EZ brackets. I would say the Cycle Visions are on about par for the Harley disconnect stuff for disconnecting back rests.
I have all the mounting hardware from a set of Switchback saddlebags that I'm putting on my leather bags this weekend. Off and on in seconds and don't stick out so far.

Agreed, that's why I love my Boss Bags, they mount closer to the bike than any I've ever seen.
You might contact Boss Bags or Leather Pros to see if they sell just their mounting hardware (you might have to modify it to fit your bags). It's worth a try, they both make the best mounting hardware out there.

Thinking about trying a threaded rod, with a nut on the back side and using an acornnut in the bags so when I take the bags off I use the acorn to hide the rod end.
Our maybe just a bolt would be better. Use blue Locktite for the part that hooks to the bike.
Has anyone tried something like this? How did it work out?
