In my case I started with comfort... Seat (stock was no good over an hour), then rear shocks. Proceeded down a pretty slippery slope after that as my sig shows

I know what you're saying about a slippery slope, I've got so much work to do. You're probably right doing comfort first, but for me I'm doing performance first (exhaust, air, tune) then comfort. The stock seat is a killer though, I was hoping it would break in, but after 5,000 miles i give up.
More fun when their loud, get that exhaust on first, everything seems to go on its own after that
Ride it for a bit before you worry about a bunch of changes. Then what you want to do will come naturally. It's like naming a pet - bring the thing home first and let it name itself - same with your bike, bring it home and ride her and what you should do next will come to you!
essentials for me would be some slip on mufflers, a better seat & a tach/speedo combo unit and a luggage rack w/tail bag.. a chromed headlight would also be cool on that bike. I would paint the battery cover to match the silver on the tank. the silver forks go well with the paint.
