I've been searching through the forums but can't really find an answer.
Im looking into putting some mini apes on my WG and I was wondering what size bar to I need (o.d.) of the pipe, for the stock controls to work on it, and what size (o.d.) the stock risers.
And if using the stock risers, If 12 inch Khrome Werks (Part # 0601-1700) would be short enough to use stock wires and cables, or if I would have to go with shorter risers to make the stock cables work.
I don't really want to mess with changing out cables and wires, rather just stick to the stock ones if I can.
Once again im offshore and looking at parts online so im not home to measure the bar myself.
I have 2011 Wg. The Wg. runs a 1.25" bars at the controls. You will need 1.25" aftermarket bars so your controls will fit. It seems like most of the bars out there run 1" in the riser. Even the 1.25" bars reduce down to 1" in the riser area. "Most." Now to answer your other question. "How high can I go with stock cables ?" Answer. Not very. Your bars and riser are about 8 or 9" tall now total. I put 10" Wild1 bars and 2" risers . Total of 12" and had to lengthen ever thing 3"except the wiring there was plenty. I tried not changing the two throttle cables, but found my throttle would hang open when the bike was at full lock either way if I cracked the throttle . So I swapped them out as well. I have read of some guys trying to straighten out the 90 up by the throttle and run the cables tight. I just sucked it up an reorder two more cables. I did run the HD 6" bent back risers with my stock bars for awhile. Those helped me a lot with my reach. There 1" up 1" back. No cable changes. There now for sale. I had them powder coated black like the original risers.

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of those 6" risers would you? may be interested in them.
The main reason I want to swap bars, is I would like to bring the bars back just a little bit and maybe gain just a little height. I'm not trying to go too tall, just looking for a little bit more of a comfortable ride. I ordered a new seat so I will see where the seat places me, if it moves me closer or further, then make a decision on the bars if I need them or not. If i do just need to bring them back a little I may be interested in the risers you have for sale.

They made a Hugh difference for me at 5'8" with a 30" inseam my legs were locked right out straight so tried adding a wedge of foam to the seat to push me forward a little. But I was still leaning towards the bar. Just a little. I would have pain between my shoulder blades. Added the bent back risers ,pain gone, sat me up and back just enough. Here I just took these pics. You can find them on Hds web site as well. At the time they only came chrome so I had them powder coated.

I just found them on Hds site part #56267-09 curved pull back risers. Ya they were expensive. I'm selling for $135. Shipped. I paid $35.00 to have them coated like factory.
