Okay, picked the bike up they said as they were getting ready to pull the switch they checked the wiring harness and it started working. Went for a long ride and got pulled over in town easing over R/R tracks, he said no brake light. Well, works with front so I guess its time to just replace the damn switch and be done with it.
Had the same problem on my Evo . Changed the switch everything fine. My switch was available at the auto parts don't know about yours, but take the switch out and take with you to be for sure. Also won't need to bleed brakes will work just fine. Not enough air to get in to make a difference at all. Also that switch works for rear tail lights.
Really. .....I'm thinking we have much different skill sets if you think that's the case. A front brake used correctly can be used anywhere.
Well you must be a better man than me cuz I'm not ashamed to say I dumped my bike by using the front brake in a parking lot. Went down so fast I didn't know wtf happened. I've learned from that experience that there's a very good reason for a rear brake on a two wheeled vehicle.
Happened to me a few months back, tested rear switch with multi meter and figured that was it. I replaced it and ended up just draining and replacing the brake fluid since I was messing with it anyway and it's been fine since. For some reason the switch for a fat bob was apparently different than others and local dealer didn't have any so I had to order it online. But the whole job is less than 10 min.
Well, the shop replaced the switch and the brake light works fine, new problem, pedal has more travel and feels soft, the flushed new fluid through three times and bled the line several times, brake seems to work but takes some pressure to make it grab, have to almost stand on it to lock up the back wheel which good be a good thing. Anyway, no leaks anywhere, I parked the bike over paper and no spots. Maybe this is normal travel?
Im having the same problem, I did saddlebags today and when all said and done, no brake light with the rear pedal, didn't remove the tire or mess with the brakes......I scoured the service manual for said switch to no avail, maybe someone can point me into the right direction as to where it is. Please. Going to pick one up.
