without getting complicated and technical pull the wires from the brake switch and jumo them with a piece of wire bared on both ends with the ign. on. if the light comes on you know it's not an electrical issue and9 times out of ten it's the cheap switch.Get one from HD like Nomadex said and if your fluid isn't dirty or five years old just pull the banjo bolt and change out the switch. you shouldn't loose enough fluid to get air into your system. Connect everything back pop the lid and refill the res. and your done in maybe 20 minutes. Unless you want to bleed your line and replace the fluid , that's up to you.
No changing pads should have nothing to do with bleeding your caliper and trapping air in the system. Unlesds the tech was an idiot.
