So I ordered bars back on 26 January. Was told it would be about a 2 week lead time. I finally received them on February 24th...no big deal. I had to go out of town for work so I didn't get a chance to install them til March 7th. When I removed them from the box I noticed a small ding in the powdercoat, so I emailed WC and got a prompt response from Scott to send them back and he'd refinish them and return to me.
So I pay out of pocket to FedEx them back (about $45) and they received them on March 12th and it's been crickets ever since. I emailed the 16th, then called two days ago, and texted and called yesterday. Nothing.
Texted again today. Nothing.
So at this point I don't know if I'm getting shafted and they're keeping my money, or if they really are good for it and just aren't communicating. A little contact from the vendor goes a long way for alleviating customer concerns like this.
Has this happened to anyone else? As it stands, I'm out $287.26 for the cost of the bars and $45 more to ship them back, and can't get a response from Westcoast as to whether they're going to fulfill my order or not. Recommendations for how to proceed are obviously very welcome.
I'm not here to badmouth them, but they need to make this right. I know they're a reputable vendor...too many happy buyers speak well of them for them to be a sketchy operation, and I know they make a quality product...but this is unacceptable.
They create mass amounts of bars and send those all to powdercoat at the same time. that's the reason it took almost a month to get them, they're hand made.
Your bars are probably next in line for that mass powdercoating.
Any powdercoater would have re-done those for what you spent on shipping I'm surprised WCTB didn't just suggest this and cover the cost. Sucks but I am sure you will get your bars back soon. And they are worth it I just installed mine yesterday.
a sharpie would have fixed that in under 2 seconds...
He paid almost $300 for a set of bars, I don't blame him for wanting the company that makes them to fix the ding. There's no way I'd accept anything but perfection in his case. I only paid $90 for my Burly 14" apes and I went over them with a fine tooth comb as soon as they arrived and you better believe I would've had them replaced if they were scratched up or dinged.
