Hi all. I bought some heat demon grip warmers for my 2013 wide glide. Their install vid says to connect to the accessory wire, which they say is a orange and white wire. On other threads here (yes I searched for a few hours) I saw others state orange and white. Looked everywhere on the bike and I can't find any orange and white wires. So I pulled out my service manual and checked some wiring diagrams that I don't really know how to read. My manuals only mention of accessory wire says it is a red and yellow wire. I guess I don't have a accessory plug? Can't seem to find anything definitive. Can anyone enlighten me?
• The accessory wire (or wires, typically orange with a white stripe) that would otherwise connect to the fuse block should be spliced to the red/yellow (ignition/accessory power) wires in the Electrical Connection Harness.
• The accessory wire (or wires, typically red) that would otherwise connect to the B+ connector should be spliced to the red/blue (battery power) wires in the Electrical Connection Harness.
• The accessory ground wire (or wires, typically black) should be spliced to the black (ground) wires in the Elec- trical Connection Harness. If ring terminals are provided in the kit, they can be used instead to connect directly to the vehicle ground.
if i were to bet your red/yellow are the accessory wires
Cool thanks. Seems weird that the electrical upgrade harness would plug in to your data link connector. But in the pic certainly shows some red/yellow wires coming out. I guess if I bought the upgrade kit I'd be able to splice in right there without damaging something else. Is that the idea?
Looking at it some more and would this be a fused connection then?
Yea it should be, if you trace the data port on the schematic you should see a protection fuse somewhere I would highly doubt that Harley wouldnt put one in line especially on the data port

Yup, quick and easy 12v hookup, remember to HD the majority of people would never use that data port.
Thank you for your replies. This looks like a good way to plug in. Is this the route that most take for a accessory connection? Are there other options?
