11 Wide Glide Risers
Hey all, need some advice. My wife has an 11 Wide Glide with factory set up for bars. She could use a little more height and pull back. She doesn't want new bars (don't ask me why) but is willing to get new risers. Just wondering what all options there are, and if anyone knows what the factory ones are? I am hoping to not have to change or cables and such so advice there also would be greatly appreciated! Thanks all in advance!

With more leverage on the bars you may notice a bit more bar movement due to the stock rubber bushings, I always replace the rubber bushings with chrome solid mount bushings. If you've got any questions shout out...

I put 10" t bars on my wide glide, moved the bars up a few inches and about an inch back, I used stock cables, I ran my clutch cable on the inside of the frame down tube. Didn't have to do it, but did it just for a piece of mind.
Simplest solution would be some riser extensions, they'll move the bars up and back. I put 2" DK Custom fat extensions on my '13 using the stock bars and they made a world of difference. You can see in the image of my WG the riser extensions do move the bars up and back, I can sit quite comfortably with my back straight and arms extended, I no longer feel like I'm leaning forward and the extensions put me into a very nice relaxed riding position. 2" will fit without any issues, 3" should fit but you'll be at the outer limit of the brake line, you won't have much to spare.

Put the order in yesterday to DK! Ended up right timing for the Wifey's birthday too...so I had a good excuse to spend money! She is looking forward to getting them put on.
I'm assuming it's a pretty straight forward install? Remove bolts from underneath, place extensions, install new bolts? Or am I missing a step or two here?
I'll see how she likes it, then if she gets some wobble I'll install some solids in there.

Pretty simple to install, it does help if you've got an extra set of hands to support the bar/risers once they're loose while you're handling the extensions and new bolts. Make sure you've got the brake line retaining clips loose before you start so the brake line will slide in them, break the riser bolts loose and remove, hold the extension in place and sit the riser on top run the new bolt up through the bottom of the upper clamp, do the other side, draw them down evenly then torque to 30-40 ft/lbs. Check the position of the brake line and tighten the clips back up, then go for a nice ride... She'll like the change

Should I use some Loctite on the bolts?
The SM stated to use Loctite on a couple of the dyna models but doesn't specifically call for Loctite on the Wide Glide riser bolts so I torqued to 35 ft/lbs and all is well. I've checked the bolts several times since then and they've remained properly torqued...
