I don't have a Biker's Friend bag or a Wide Glide. However, I do have a large http://www.lazyrider.com/ bag on my Superglide. They are basically the same bag. I love it. Can't tell you how comfortable the back support is with this bag behind me.
Which size is right for you depends on your bike. Do you have a sissybar? Do you like to ride upright or laid back? The different sizes will give you a different riding position. Also, all of the pictures with bikes show the lumbar pad being used as a lower back support. I like mine just the opposite (with the lumbar at the top to rest my upper back against).
I guarantee you will love the ride with this bag as your back support.
I have neither, but a few times I've used my Grand Roll Bag strapped down to the rear fender up against the back of the seat and I took a towel folded it up in front of it and bungeed it to the front of the bag making a "backrest" (pictured in my current signature). I could ride million mile days like that! Backrest in conjunction with a roll bag is def a good way to go for solo road trippin. Sorry can't help ya on size.

Do you run it with your backrest that is in your pic? I've got a back rest on a solo seat too and was trying to figure out your set up.
I went with the Large on my 2014 BO. I wish I had selected the Medium as this would have given me the perfect backrest. The BF bags are constructed around a robust ABS cylinder and will hold their shape. If you plan on using yours as a backrest between you and a sissy bar, I'd suggest you go with the Medium (11" dia).
I went with the Large on my Dyna and it is the perfect back rest. I'm 6'0" btw. Also, I have used it for 3-5 night trips and its cramped but it works! Great bag
I think I just found the solution for carrying stuff to work and back. I've been using a small backpack for years but lately have been wanting a different setup. Thanks for sharing.
