Default Pads touching rotors

I just installed a frontHHI 4 piston caliper and the pads touch the rotor when thebrake is not applied. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. It definitly keeps the wheel fromspinning when the bike is on the lift. Wonder how much power I'm loosingif both wheels are fighting the pads.

That don't sound right...you should be able to hear it make contact but there should NOT be a lot of drag. Make sure it is shimed right..the disc needs to be in the middle of caliper...

ya - what tireater said. if the rotor is centered in the caliper there will be light touching on both pads. if you can't spin the wheel when its off the ground, sounds like one side is dragging.

after many a brake pad replacement Ican say they do touch and make a soft contact friction noise but you should always be able to hand spin a wheel even on a car/truck, but especially on a bike. Go out and ride it for a bit and apply the brakes, if it jerks to one side that will help you solve which side needs adjustment. Of course if the wheel won't turn one side is going to be red hot before you even apply the brakes.
