I think people are saying the wide glide isn't the best because of the increased rake angle and skinny tire,, its still more fun to ride than any bike with mid controls, that's like torture unless you're a midget.

I'm 5'10" so not exactly a midget and I find mids to be much more comfortable than forwards. I also prefer how they aid in maneuverability over forward controls.
Mids definitely plant me better in the seat and help with shifting weight and control in aggressive conditions. Forwards are still fun and comfy though, just not as performance oriented.
+1 FXDXT or the FXDX. ----- Debatably the best riding bike the MOCO ever made. I waited patiently for two years to find a low mileage one that hadn't been butchered and like a lot of guys drove for four hours to get it. One of the reasons they are hard to get a hold of is the guys who have them won't sell them . I paid $8000 US for mine--- original condition with 11000 miles on it and have twice been offered $14000 CDN.
Street Bob, or Low Rider, Superglide if your looking used. The others have less lean and shorter shock travel, IIRC. Also, if you go to forward then they are all about the same.
Myself I'm adding a 13" or 13.5" rear shock and I may add Wide Glide forks up front to add a little more cornering clearance for my Superglide.

^This.
Low Rider will give you the Dyna platform with the handling improvements of smaller wheel, shorter forks and less rake. Thats why i went witn it.
