I have a stage 2 103 kit im going to be doing in the near future, it comes with the se255 cams but I dont think that I want to use them. Ive been looking at tons of cams the past several months trying to find out what I want. A friend works at the dealer and recommend the se259e cams. I found a new set of se251 cams for 06 dyna 07 on up twin cam. They are almost identical to the 259e cams but I cant find a whole lot about them. I know there are other brands but im asking about these. I dont hit the rev limiter but I dont putt around. Looking for strong mid to upper power band.
1) They need 10.5 -1 + compression to run correctly.
2) They are noisy on the valvetrain side, be prepared for that.
3) Unless you have headwork you are not going to exploit the .579" lift they provide.
4) There aren't many canned ECM maps available for that cam. So you will have to dyno tune or live with peaks and valleys.
On a "Stage 2" why not go Andrews 57, Woods 555, TMan 555 or even SE204 ? They would be quieter and more effective than the SE251. That being said the 251 would sound like a big bad cammed-out Harley.
Hopefully your exhaust will not fumble up the tune of whatever you install.
I am looking at the andrews 57 too. I do have a thundermax with autotune on the way. I do like the idea of the 251s because down the road if I do decide to do headwork I prob wouldnt have to change cams. Then again a part of me says just stick the 255s in and when I get tired of them just do a cam swap. Every time I make up my mind on a cam another one peaks my interest. This is nuts. Thanks for all the help its much appreciated.

Dzz, once you go for more power you'll want more. Do it once it's cheaper that way.

This sums it up pretty well. All that being said they do work pretty well when set up right. If you want to run them forget the stage 2 kit. Go with dome pistons, 107 if you can and have the heads ported. If you're looking to just do a flat top big bore with cams and nothing else forget the 251s.
