There is a difference between what is actionable (someone can sue you) and what can be done. Is it actionable to copy and publicly post a copyrighted manual? Yes. IF the Motor Company (not the government) wanted to come after you, they could. You could be liable for attorney fees (yikes!!) and damages. On the other hand, do people post copyrighted manuals? Yup. Your chances of being harassed go way up if you are charging for copies.

So I was asking because I thought it would be nice to have a searchable pubs section. Sometimes it means wading through 1000s of posts to find that one scanned file that shows the wire or part you want.

Do not post pictures that have a copyright stamp on them or bootlegged material, such as Harley Manuals which have been illegally downloaded on CD's. Any violation of this rule will cause the post/thread to be removed and the offending member to be warned or banned (depending on the severity of the violation).
In other words, do not post any copies of copyrighted material on HD Forums. We don't care about the copyright police or anything like that. Our rules do not allow it. And that's what you need to know. We will enforce that rule no matter who you are.
