I use simple green 50/50 mix with water.I wet it down first then SG the whole thing. Don't spray to much on bearings, wait about 1 minute, rinse and blow off with clean shop vac (reverse hose).
When really dirty (after getting caught in the rain) Captain Richard's Cherry Bike Wash and a rinse then a coat of Captain Richards Best on everyting (paint, chrome, glass, ect.) except the black wrinkle powder coating on the engine. Onceeveryting has been coatedwith Captain Richard's Best you can wipe you bike down with a damp micro-fiber cloth and buff with a dry one and you won't scratch your paint or chrome. My WG is vivid black andhave not had any issues with scratches and/or swirl markswith this method. Check out this website for Captain Richard's product: www.badtothebom.com
I recently got the Mr. Clean. I used to use Turtlewax Zip-wax auto soap and a bucket then wipe dry with a chamois. The Mr. Clean isn't any better at cleaning than the auto soap but it sure saves mea great deal oftime on drying. Since I ride every day, sometimes days of rain will preclude washing as a futile effort and the bike will get pretty dirty. When this happens, I rinse, use 60/40 simple green, let it sit and then rinse. Then wash with Zip-wax soap and rinse. Then Mr. Clean and dry with blow dryer. Then polish with clean soft cloth and use some rain-x glass cleaner on mirrors and headlamp globe.
I use the same stuff on my bike as I use on my truck. Meguires car wash. I also use the Mr. Clean blue car wash thing, the spot free filter thing actually works, and I have a big *** black truck to wash!! I use microfiber towels to dry both of them. I wash the bike every week if I ride alot, or when it gets dusty. I've yet to polish any chrome, dont need to.
