I'd love to see some before and after pictures and what you decided on using when you get around to it.
This was the worst face of the wheels, the front wheel i was able to bring back to complete shine. This was rear brake side wheel. Pretty ruined. Gonna try a super high grit sandpaper or steel wool and wet sand lightly to take a layer down as after about 90 minutes of buffing this was the best i could achieve
I polish out big rigs for a living. To clean that up right it needs sanding and buffing with rouge bars. Short of that try hand polishing with zephyr pro 40. Mothers polish is absolute crap. I understand a lot of diy guys love it but it is junk. No professional uses that stuff. Let me know if you have any questions. You can see before and after pictures of our work on Instagram. @precisionfleet

Thanks for the insight precision. I'm not throwing in the towel yet im pretty **** about detailing and I'm not happy with the outcome so your insight helps thanks.
Precision223 is correct about Mothers polish. It's good for light polishing but useless for restoration work. Semichrome or a rogue bar work better. Never-Dull is another good product. This is a mildly abrasive cotton wadding and cleaning polish.
Be sure to move to a lighter grit sand paper (or steel wool) as the shine comes back. I did the same project with the wheels on my Low Rider. Took me few times before I got the wheels looking nice.
I don't understand why Harley doesn't clear coat the wheels. Maybe they are just hoping that after a few years we will all upgrade to HD chrome wheels. Every auto manufacturer clear coats the wheels.
