The bikes from the factory are running lean and need to be richened up to run properly. You can use a TFI/DFO (same thing) and install it yourself for $160 and the setup and install is a piece of cake. There are articles in the DIY section to cover the install and benefits of it. They work well and will cure your problem of running lean. You can also adjust it again if you replace the mufflers and intake too. It's not necessary to adjust for the mufflers only, however you would be glad you did it if you did. If you need any more info PM me or look in the DIY section https://www.hdforums.com/forumid_247/tt.htm

Just check fittment for the 06

For under $200 you can put a DFO on, doesn't matter if you have the download or not. Also works well with the mild mods that most of us riders do.(I have one on my 95' BB with cams). Can be installed and tuned by yourself with only basic tools and mechanical knowledge. Lots of great websites and links for installation and support. Here's a start...http://www.dobeckperformance.com/dfo/

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your new Street Bob. Please keep us updated on what you do, what HD does and how it all turns out. I hope things get better for you really soon!

I would love to use one of these products, bt they are for 05 and earlier efi systems. 06 is a closed loop efi. I think that is why you need to wait for the HD down load, or for the aftermarket companies to release a 06 compatible set up. I am not to sure about this, just what I have gathered. If I am wrong, please enlighten me, my bike runs fine, but is TOO QUIET!!!!! Also, do 05 slip ons fit on 06 Dynas????

Yes any slipon for Dyna from 1995 up will fit the 06 Dyna.

I agree we need to be patient and wait for HD to come up with a solution.
I am sure their engineers are breaking a sweat trying to resolve it
the surging has been noted on other 06 FI models too. Some are worse than others
and it is more noticable at slow speeds like when you are in traffic at 25 or 35 mph.
But all do it to a degree.

2006 FI Twin Cam Models except '06 Dyna & V-Rod

That is what I see on the site. I am interested in the problems since I am in the market for a Wide Glide.

On the ride in to work today I purposely rode slow in a higher gear to try to get the surgeing affect. I did notice that at low RPMs, at slow speeds, holding the throttle steady, there was a bit of surging. Lucky for me, it is minimul. I can only hope that A- it does not get worse, and B- when I finally get a stage one applied it will correct it. Again though, it is minimul on my bike. I wish yours was minimal as well.

It is good news to me that the older slip ons fit the 06 Dyna, but I want to do the A/C at the same time. I have heard nothing but good things about the DFO set up, but I looked again and dont see an application for 06 Dynas. I am sure that something will be out, as these 06's are literaly brand new to the market. I am wondering if the fact that the dynas have O2 sensors is the hold up? I believe only the dynas have them? (not sure about v rods)

It is disheartening that there are probs with the new model, but I blame it on the EPA. I have to believe that the MoCo will have the bugs worked out, and when they get DLs from the MoCo some probs will be fixed. All in all, I am still glad I bought the bike I did. The surging is minimul, and I have confidence that the Tranny seal will be rectified. And as with all new setups, in time there will be an ample amount of upgrades for the EFI/stage 1 issue. Even with the EPA, there are ALWAYS ways to get around the system. I think patience is key. The WideGlide still puts a smile on my face everytime I see it, and everytime I ride it. The Motor pulls hard, the tranny is smooth, and the ride is like a luxery car. Whenever I start jonesing for that Harley rumble out of the exhaust, I fire the Sportster up and **** off the neighborhood. (of course at a reasonable hour!!)

Regardless, I am sorry you are having probs with your new ride. No matter how you cut it, it sucks. Hang in there though, I think in the long run you will be happy with it. My OIC has the same bike as you (still stock), and he has the same feelings as I do. Lucky for us though, (depending on how you look at it) we have a rather long deployment comming up. The bikes will be in storage. When we get back we should have the cash, and the MoCo/aftermarket companies should have the products to get everything on track.
