Griz: Good luck! Dont' take any unnecessary chances. The Iraqi forces need to belly up and take charge now. We have done our part. Keep us updated.

Makes me wish more and more it had a good old carb on it.
That's why I have bought my first and last Harley. No more FXD. What a shame. My carb gives me no probs what so ever. I just installed pipes and AC, rejetted and BLAST OFF. I didn't have to rely on the damned dealer. And yes, these bikes are very lean from the dealer. Mine would cough on cool days (in TexAss that means around 70ยบ). Rejetting solved that problem.

Willie, my dealer here in San Antonio is selling brand new 06 dynas with a stage 1 installed by the service dept.
I love Alamo City HD off of I-35, in San Antonio. I got so disgusted with the dealers in N. Texas that I drove my 62, 3/4 ton Chevy down there to get my bike. It was quite an adventure.

this is why i've bought my last new HD. I bought an 05 with a carb. F*&* the EPA emissions police. I wish HD would have built the street bob with a 5 sp and carb, then i'd have one in my garage. I still have my conspiracy theory (it may be a stretch but i believe it) that HD may not have been responsible for the EPA changes for bikes but they were behind it 100%. They see S&S and others cutting into their profit. My mechanic told me that the future HD's will be all but impossible to tinker with and run smoothly. The new motor upgrades from SE are mild compared to past years. HD wants to cut out the aftermarket and keep all accessory sales. (i believe that's also why they change models frequently lately so the aftermarket has a hard time keeping up) The MOCo is going to greed itself into oblivion. I've been a huge HD supporter over the years, but there's almost no difference between a honda and a harley anymore. Who wants a harley that they can't work on or even change the friggin pipes? Rant over. JMHO

This is a website for Adventure HD. The link takes you to the 2006 Stage 1 Download.

I donโ€™t want to over-simplify possible problems, but I would recommend pulling the spark plugs. My dadโ€™s WG started missing bad at about 1500 miles, so I pulled the plugs to look and they had so much build up on them, Iโ€™m surprised it even ran. I put in some new plugs and cleaned the old ones for spares. It ran great after. Same thing with my RKC. Not as bad but still excess buildup. I think there is a lot of crap that gets burnt during break in. Iโ€™ve had to do that with new dirt bikes after the first couple of rides too. Crappy gas will do it too. Also double check the plug gap.
