IMO go for the'06, particualrly if you're going to be doing a lot of miles, and intend to keep it for a few years. Why? Because the six speed box, EFI, and revised suspension set-up completely transformed the Low Rider. However, if you want to own an obsolete bike - go for the 2003.
The 2003 engine was the last year to have all the good internal bearings. Important if you are going to up the horsepower. Nice to know if you are doing a lot of miles!

The stock carb on 2003's is a 40mm constant velocity with enrichner, (choke). This is simplicity in itself, plus a collectible. All the bikes being trailered into dealerships I have seen, three in just one day recently, have all been due to fuel injection problems. There are a lot of components in a fuel injection sytem!!

There are numerous complaints about the six speed boxes, just hit the search tab to find out.

So, a reliable, "obsolete" bike, or a dubious internal bearinged and transmissioned 2006. Hmmm?[sm=confused06.gif][sm=confused06.gif][sm=confused06.gif]

IMHO, I would go with the oooo6. I am very happy with mine, have had no problem with F/I or anything else, except the horn went out. I have ridden to Orange County from Seattle and it was a pleasure. One thing to think about is the 06 is a one year model. So maybe down the road the value will be greater, that is if you ever sell it. I probably will not. My plan is to give it to the wife and by a new bike for me. With the PC, pipes and the A/C upgrade it runs great.

Either one will be fun and enjoyable.

I would go with the 06......many improvements. But they are overpriced. I paid $14,300 new.
