Looking to upgrade my 07 Super Glide over the next month and I know I will be needing to use a tuner of some sorts. The local dyno shop seems to be really pushing the sale of the ThunderMax closed loop system ($800), but seems to have no knowledge of the DynoJet Commander system.
Looking through my Dennis Kirk book I see the Thundermax ECM is available seperately than the closed loop kit. I am assuming that with the Thundermax ECM I would be able to still set my own maps per my specific setups...or am I misinformed?
I would like to invest in the complete closed loop system, but I would like to spread the finances a bit more evenly (IE ECM, exhuast, intake ect.).
I am planning to add a cam to the motor eventually as well, so I just really need to make sure if I purchased the Thundermax ECM that I can still load custom maps to it via my local shop. I realize that in the long run it would be best to just drop the funds on the closed loop kit, but really just looking for clarification and advice at this point.
Setup that I am putting together includes SuperTrapp Internal Disc Slip-Ons, Kuryakyn R Procharger, an Andrews Cam
Dude.
Get the Thundermax w/Autotune from the get go..You'll be paying a shop to do custom maps each step of the way otherwise. With the auto tune the O2 sensors adjust real time and with big changes you set a new base map with your PC. Dyno time isn't cheap you'll more than save the differance..Don't throw away dollars tomorrow to save cents today..Just my $.02. Later
Go to the top of the page and click "Search." Type "Thundermax" into the search term and select "Search in all Forums." Don't make everyone type it all in again.

Sorry for stepping on the fingers of the forum gods here...I searched, I read, and read, and talked to a handful of people before posting this. Just looking for additional information without resurecting old threads that would normally allow my questions to go unanswered.
Jay - Thanks for the link, I believe I had reads through your thread as well.
daily- thanks for the informative reply, that is afterall what I was after.
I want to start saving for one after reading the reviews...I'd say go for it and it will save you money in the long run. You can order it from forum member shooter64 and I understand you might save a little dough too. I am unaffiliated with them, just trying to help you out.

You didn't step on the fingers of the forum gods, just on the fingers of a Prospect.

I agree with Anubiss. Shooter offered me a great deal on the Thundermax and as he also said, I am not affiliated with him just trying to help out.
Another option is the DTT, also self tunes, and completely adjustable, for stock to wild builds. I strarted my install of a DTT tonight, have a pretty wild build, will be changing pipes in a couple of weeks, and wont need to take it back to a dyno with every change or modification. PCIII, Thundermax, without the auto tune will only get you close and will require a dyno everychange. TM w/AT or the DTT (Daytona Twin Tec) both work well, cost about the same. I got mine from Shooter also, (not affiliated) and he gave me a great deal, recommend him highly.
