I got one of the German DOT helmets but found it was WAY to big... that is, oversized. The German only looks cool as a novelty helmet but I personally will not ride with something that offers no protection.
Yeah I think they look cool as hell .......as you can tell! I would never wear one though. I wear just a black Harley beanie right now and hell it catches to much wind. The German Helmets do look cool though!
Those German style helmets were designedfor putting Jews to death and killing American soldiers. Not so much for motorcycle riding.
Chris
PS - Not to be a prune, but I can't understand how anyone could wear that helmet. It's equal to wearing a **** suit around if you ask me. But hey, it's a free country.

Where I live German Helmet is slang for a similarly shaped part of the male anatomy.....guess which part...
IMHO the beenie is the only way to go (IF you have to wear one)...MOST DOT helmets are too hot to wear in the summer, too heavy, etc. I know people believe in big helmets and the helmet issue is a hot button topic for a lot of people...blah blah blah and they save lives in some circumstances. They'd cut down the death rates in autos too...why don't we make people in cars wear them? You can always tell a new rider or a guy who just got his Harley (saw one in my neighborhood the other day)...he's the one wearing the new bubble Harley helmet the dealership sold him.

Some people chose to wear helmets, ya know. Doesn't mean they're a new rider.
