So around this time last year I went HD and had the Full Monty IPB rebuild on my 2006 WG, it ran fine this whole last year of SoCal year-round riding. Now, the dreaded noise is back.
I've decided to go with the Baker IPB this time, I already ordered and received it. I went and got the tools I didn't already have, the only thing I don't have is a bearing press to press in the bearing.
I know somewhere on here someone mentioned a shortcut to pressing on the bearing without using an industrial press, can anyone offer any advice or tips on this, along with any other problems I might encounter?
P.S. I have taken the outer primary down before, but this will be my first time removing the inner, I do have a service manual, and have reviewed the applicable chapters and will again before I begin work.
Shooting for this weekend or next to complete the project.

By "full monty", you mean that they replaced the transmission case with the doweled version, as well as the inner primary (if it wasn't set up for the dowels)? And it still failed in year?

Yes, that's exactly what is happening. I find it odd that it went out that quick, but it is what it is.
after you take the inner primary off, find a local Harley shop and have them press out old one and install new, mine did it for free.
You were able to get Harley to install aftermarket parts? I guess it's worth a shot, but I couldn't even get my dealer to sell me a primary locking tool. They are pretty stingy.
Put your new bearing in the freezer overnight and it will tap right in.
No kidding? That actually works? Makes sense I guess.
Do I need anything special to tap it in? I know some people have mentioned using a socket of some sort to pop the stock one out, I imagine the same principal would apply to tapping the Baker in there.
Great, thanks for that advice, I'm going to be digging in and giving it a shot sometime this weekend or next. I will post back letting you all know how it goes.
