I used a 6 piston Tokico from a ZX-10. The same caliper is used on many modern sport bikes including the Hayabusa. I put some EBC pads in and it works really well. This is a single disc using the stock rotor and master cylinder set up on my 2008. I made the bracket myself. It took several attempts to get the bracket right as there is only 1-2 mm margin of error in the caliper placement.

You could use brake calipers from the XR1200 they bolt right up. Proving you have cast wheels.

I'm glad someone else posted this. I'm disappointed with my FB brakes and wanting an upgrade. Also used to a superbike, so that slants my opinion.

Are you wanting radial or conventional calipers?

The Tokico calipers from GSXRs seem to be common, but pale when compared to Yamaha monoblocks. It's common for Suzuki guys to upgrade to the Yamaha ones. I think they look better to boot.

I don't have any fab skills, but would like to see some brackets like this hit the market for a reasonable price.

Since the original poster stated he had an 01 FXDX I'm referring to that.

Boys, thanks a ton for all the info! This is a big help.
Now I just have to figure out the specifics of how I'm gonna do it.

So glad this forum exists!
