I just pick up the Quick-Detach Standard, and had no problems with the hardware. Left it a little loose, put it up to the fork tubes and they settled into the right place and I tightened them down. Seemed to work fine so far. Had it off a couple time to find the right height and have not had a problem. But what a differance on the hightway. Love it, money well spent so far.

Joe

I had the same problem with the buffeting, I am 6' 2" and alway had to havethe windshield up as far as it would go howeverI found that is if you position the windshield in diffrent locations on the fork tubes (up&down) you will be ablea find a position where this can be minimzed

Mine has been alright, but I ordered mine w/it, so the dealer most likely knew the tension on them to prevent the delicate clamps from snapping. I really do not notice the buffeting anymore, but I also took the visor off my half helmet to aid in that. If I paid attention I'd know it was there, but on long (or cold) trips the alternative is worse.

I'm pleased with mine and rarely remove it.

When I do, I remember the clamps are delicate and there's no problem.

I got the quick release one about a year and a half ago, had no problems at all with it. Haven't used it NEAR as much as I thought I would, guess I like the wind too much . Guess I'll use it when I go on a road trip tho, a week of wind gets to be a bit much.

When my ride was delivered the technician warned me to be very careful with the clamps. Most important was to never let the clamps "snap" into place.

This is a really good thread, lot's of info on a problem that' s costing guys some dough. I'm planning on getting one of these myself and at first had decided not to get one because of the problems with the clamps andthe breaking. Now I just need to see what the word is on which one has the least amount of wind turbulence on the rider.
