Default HD Quick release windshield

Just bought one and have had terrible luck so far. Two clamps have broken while trying to secure it. Either it's bad forged steel or something else. Just curious if anyone else has had any issues with the clamps. When I installed it i left the shcs's loose, then secured the clamps then tightened the bolts just like the directions stated. Nothing else I can figure will cause this.

If the clamps aren't lined up properly on the fork they will snap.

If the clamps are overtightend in the slightest they will snap.

I know this from experience!!!

I just got mine on Thursday. I didn't have any problems. If you follow the directions exactly as written it should be a breeze. The biggest thing being to not tighen the bolt the way until after you mount it on the bike the first time. The clamps will seat and align themselves, then you tighten the bolts when it's on the bike. Viola!

The only issue for me is serious buffeting starting at 55-60 MPH. Earthquake on my head...not fun.

Do you have the standard or the low profile shield?

Had my windshield since feb......I broke one the other day and went to the stealer and that one broke......got another one and so far its worked.......

once the clamps are on then tighten on windshield....then shouldnt have to adjust again....but the best way is to always hold the windshield up and snap top clamps and bottom clamps at same time any movement snaps them......

Not the same windshield. The HD quick detach windshields with the totally integrated hardware (no permanent mount) have only been available for a couple of years.
