Default throttle vibration

Any suggestions. When about 60-65mph and up my hand, starts to go numb. Then returns to normal when I slow down. Left hand perfectly normal. What gives. I have poly bushings. It's rather annoying. I think it's due to vibration. In my throttle hand. Suggestions

I put Kuryakyn Kinetic grips and helmet locks on my bars and eliminated 90% of the vibrations that made my right hand go numb. The locks weigh about 1/4 lb. a piece, so the added weight sure helps with vibrations.

I think I read in one of the bike magazines a number of years ago that squeezing too tight when riding is what caused numbness tingling in the majority of riders hands.. most notably the throttle hand because this hand never really comes off the bars..

This right here, Survival Reaction #2: Too tight on the bars. This is covered extensively by Keith Code, too tight on the bars causes a large host of handling problems and creates fatigue in the rider.

I've always run solid bushings on my HD's and use my abdomen to support my body, the bars are for steering the bike and not supporting your body. Riding light on the bars avoiding excessive rider input is an important skill to master and the fatigue you're experiencing is not a hardware problem.

If you're not familiar with Keith Code, pick up his 'Twist of the Wrist' and 'Twist of the Wrist II' books and the DVD 'Twist of the Wrist II', the techniques will improve your riding skills and your confidence tremendously...

I'll have to check it out. This wasn't a problem when I had stock bars on. Thought it had something to do with the bars &/ the knurled grips I put on over the winter. But realized it vibration. I don't have this issue at 55 or 45mph. I also I'm taking all that wind so. I may be hanging on tighter do to that. I Emailed jd about a fairing, hoping to cut down on the neck fatigue a little

Wind resistance is much higher with the apes than with the stock bars, so you need to hold on tighter.
You also mentioned knurled grips. If those are the metal type with no rubber inserts, I got rid of mine because unless I gripped them really hard, the friction was so low that the throttle return spring would gradually cause the right grip to twist toward closed in my hand. Solved it with an insert-type grip, don't need to squeeze it nearly as hard any more.

Look into getting a Throttle Rocker. They do wonders for letting you relax your grip for a while by simply laying your wrist on the rocker for a while. Cheap and very effective!
