My quarter fairing helps, actually it's nice, I took it off once, was thinking about painting, that's when you notice a real difference, if you've never had a fairing, you'll never know
Made the hand guards, those work too, but rather unnecessary unless you ride in the cold a lot. But I tried them out, just to check them out. 25 bucks worth if metal, and 250 dx syncrowave miller, easy peasy. Eventually took them off, San Diego isn't cold
.....(Don't like the after market batwings....it just looks to out of place)
Check out Dead Center Cycle's Road Captain Fairing, fits the dyna well I think.
I own a road glide and a street bob. I'm selling my road glide. I don't do enough long distance rides any more or ride it enough period to justify keeping it. The road glide is certainly a great touring bike. But its boring to me. My dyna is much more fun. The suspension, stereo, weather protection and luggage capacity is certainly great on my road glide, but I might as well drive my car. I intend to put a quarter fairing on my bob and upgrade the suspension. Might even do handlebar speakers. I like how light and nimble my dyna is compared to the RG.
So with my current set up, when i ride, i feel like im pushing wind and not enjoying it. For those whom may also live in windy areas, do the fairings really help? My brothers with baggers say that their fairing are extremely helpful. Looking to make my dyna more me compatable, if not I'll have to bag it up.....thanks for ideas and comments.
I first got the HD quick detach windshield and the wind buffeting was awful, so purchased the Memphis shades batwing fairing with the wind deflectors and the lower deflectors and it helped quite a bit with the wind, so much so I never take it off except to wash the bike. Hope this helps
I picked up my Tsukayu fairing on CL and set it up to be quick release. I hate the look of a fairing on a wide glide, but use it for longer trips. Definitely makes a difference on how tired you are at the end of a day of riding. Day to Day stuff not so much. In the winter time (less than 45 deg), it goes back on. But we only have Jan-Feb when its that temp or lower out here in the desert.
