I was reading the reviews on the PowerSport Network for Road Glides and 2 of them complained about wind Buffeting. They mentioned they put HD Lowers and a larger wind screen and still have issues. One said he was getting rid of his bike.
Do any of you have those issues with the Road Glide ?
Do You have any issues at all with them ?
If you do have buffeting issues, what did you do to correct them ?
I like the Street Glide but was also looking at the Road Glide, I do not see to many RG in the Phoenix area and wanted something unique. They both look like the same bike but just a different fairing.
You really need to ride both of them and see which "fits" you best. Yes, there is some buffeting with the Road Glide. Get the right height windshield (I put a 14" WindVest on mine), and you can try the lowers (mine has the tank recall, so they don't fit). I swapped out my seat for a Mustang Super Tourer which sits me down and back a bit from stock. I'm pleased with the results.
I tested the Road Glide and the Street Glide, and just liked the feel of the Road Glide better. Definitely a personal preference.
What is a Sport Glide? Did you mean Street Glide? I sure hope so.
Use the Search feature here for a TON of info on the Roadie's buffeting issues. Basically you'll need to select a windshield that is appropriate to your riding style, riding position & height. If you're thinking about a new one, you'll be able to install the new wind deflectors in mere seconds. Fairing lowers will help noticeably. Don't let a wind issue keep you from a great ride. Even the batwing faired bikes have their issues, to a degree.
As to the ride between the two fairing styles; honestly? The Roadie is a better ride simply because the fairing is mounted to the frame which takes the brunt of any wind impact. And never mind testimonials from PowerSports, you'll get the real deal on info on this Forum. Consider this Forum your "bikelepedia"!
Some complain, some don't, evidently all the reviews weren't negative, it depends how much wind you like.I'd tell you to test ride them, but both are quite crappy with the stock windshield. Most are able to find a windshield to satisfy them, I have the HD windsplitter & am reasonably happy with it, but I'm still looking for something a little better in windy & cold conditions, I have about 12K on this year with the windsplitter, that said some have reviewed it & said they hated it, so it's a relative subject. I'm 6' & I went from a batwing with a 6 1/2" with recurve to the RG & I'll never go back. You might try test riding a RGC & then a RGUltra since it has a taller ws stock. Good luck.
I've had my 08 RG since Nov. of 07 got 37K on it. Just got back from a 4K mile trip last night.
Rode from Denver to Chandler in 14 hrs. Love the bike.

I will guarantee you if you get one you will see them all over Phoenix.
As for the wind, it's a dam motorcycle what do they expect?
I had a RoadGlide.... It's sharknose fairing positions the windshield several inches further away from the rider than other designs which equals less wind protection.I do a lot of highway miles in all kinds of weather, and have found the ElectraGlide batwing to definitely provide less exposure to cold, rain & wind.
There are three Road Glide models for 2011 - Road Glide Custom (Street Glide with the RG fairing, shorty windshield, 96 cu in), Road Glide Ultra (Electraglide Ultra Classic with a RG fairing, no saddlebag guards, full windshield and lowers, 103 cu in) and a CVO Road Glide Ultra with everything HD could put on it, 110 cu in.
I had a '07 Road Glide until the RGUltra came out. Had some buffeting, replaced windshield with a Clearview tall recurved and solved much of the problem. The RGUltra with the original stock windshield is better. Add the $30 FLTR wind deflectors and it's GREAT. One of these days I'll put the Clearview on it - but it's so nice now that I'm in no hurry....

Inout fron you will be appreciated...
The stock windshield like many other stock parts on a Harley are better replaced. The RG with a proper windshield is a great touring bike and handles better at high speed and cornering then the Ultra/or street glide{have owned both). If wind is such an issue maybe a car is a better choice!
When I mean by buffeting, I rode a Triumph Tiger. It shook my head all over the place. The placement of the small fairing and wind screen was worse than not having any wind screen at all.
A little wind is not going to kill me, but misplaced wind sucks
