I'm 6'5" and the "buffeting" started at about 50 mph and got worse the faster I went. It was UNBEARABLE at 80 mph. I installed the front fork air baffle, vented lowers and a KW 16" flare windshield, now I can ride on the interstate all day long. It wasn't cheap and not exactly the look I was originally going for but in this case, comfort took priority over style. If case any of you are wondering, YES I did take the bike for a test ride before I bought it but they only let me take it out for about 10 minutes which wasn't enough time to get it on the highway.
For myself the RG has been an awsome ride and given me lots of great service. Adding the 16in. Clearview windsheild with recurve,Heritage bars and Mustang touring seat helped make it a much better ride for me. I never considered the buffeting to be a problem unless I was around big trucks and a lot of traffic. I would still be rollin up the miles on it if not for a woman cager from Alabama sideswiping me and doing over 8 grand in damage to it. I have found for my riding needs the RG is a much more stable mount on the highway than my wifes Roadking Classic but the King is more nimble in the twisties than my RG.

My RG had the fork baffle installed when new. I had quite a bit of wind buffeting and noise at first. I went with the 21'' tall HD windshield and a Mustang Touring seat and pretty much eliminated the buffeting problem. I also have added a Tour Pack but have no idea if that had any effect on the wind. Keeping my knees tight to the tank seems to help. If I stick them in the breeze it adds wind and noise. I'm just a tick under 6' tall. Hope this helps.
Buffeting? You bet! It was so bad on my stock RG that I was a pretty unhappy rider. It would shake my helmet so bad that I would get cross eyed.
Anyway, a CB SSC shield and a set of HoggChopps lowers and it's now smooth sailing.
I think HD needs to do a little wind tunnel testing and fairing/shield redesign to solve this issue.
Haven't seen the HoggChopps lowers before, how do they compare to the HD vented lowers? The price is quite a bit cheaper. What can you tell me about them?
