Hello everyone.
I have a 2007 fxdb and I am hopping to put a sissy bar on it, this is where the trouble has started. Unknown to me when I bought it, the previous owner had put a set of discontinued bags on it and drilled a custom hole for the bracket to bolt on.
I really like the bags and would like to keep them but due to the custom hole, no sissy bar bracket made for my bike will fit in conjunction with the bags.
The bolts are about 10 inches apart and I have had ZERO luck finding any sort of spec for the measurement of what other mount would fit... or even what bike these bags would fit and then hopefully find a mount bracket to fit the bags.... attached is a pic of my bike, the olive drab one, and the bags.
Help?
Thank you for the reply, sadly though, The new sissy bar bracket holes would be further apart than the bag bracket and thus not fit. As for a welder, I wanted to test my options before I pay to have custom work done.
Why not just use a rigid mount sissy bar. It mounts between the fender and fender strut. This way you still have the mounting points for the saddle bags. Or am I missing something?

the bolts that hold the bag and the bracket behind them are drilled through the strut and the fender... anything I would put there needs to be compatible with the bags... which arent technically compatible with my bike
My question still stands. All you need to do is drill a hole through the mounting bracket for the bags everything will work then. Think out of the box.
Unless your hung up on quick disconnect. Personally I dont like the quick release, they make it look out of place to me.
got to keep a open mind when fabing. This will cut out a machine shop labor rates.
I'm only suggesting, nothing more
