So I have a 2010 FXDB. I bought some nice Santee bars for it. I read everywhere that 14 inch bars do not need the cable kit. I took off all of my controls to put on the new bars. The problem that I am having now is that the brake lights stay on! When I hit the foot brake nothing happens but when I hit the hand brake they dim. Its like they are backwards... Its really annoying! I did cut the turn signal wires, but connected them, same color and done properly. The switch still works from what I can tell its just reversed. It does still have that copper clip that goes next to it. I didn't really do anything that could cause a wire to pinch or rip. I checked the fuse box... I'm going nuts. I ride every day and now Im going to have to drive my car In LA traffic... Horrible lol any input helps thank you
Ya wrecked the front brake light switch when you assembled the controls to the new bars,, it's a common error.
Do a little more research about the front brake switch and you'll find the fix.
p.s. the cheapest replacement is found on e-bay for about 20.
The only thing you can do right away is to clip one of the wires to the front switch,,but then you'll only accurate the brake light with your rear brake pedal.
