I've been running 1/2" shorter than stock, 412 heavy duty full covers, for about 50K miles now... stiff bastards... but I like a stiff ride... I've got them set so I don't even have to adjust them, when riding 2up... yep, just a tad above a hard tail... but I like feeling the road... and I don't think I've taken a hit in performance.

Does anyone know, are the 430's just not worth it? Thanks!!
Yes. I would never even consider putting Progressives on a bike. They are the only "performance" shock that can't be rebuilt. They do ride better than factory shocks, but a pair of Ohlins, Works, or Hagons will make you a believer.

I'm running Progressive 444s, 12.5" (half in longer than stock). They made a night & day difference in ride quality and handling.
I ride 2 up probably 25% of the time, and no issues.
Don't go with the heavy duty...standard duty is plenty for 2 up riding.
The longer shock you can go with, the better...more suspension travel. I would have went longer, but I was going to have a clearance issue with my D&D Bobcat.
Very pleased with my 444s. Sure, there are even better shocks out there, but for the money the 444s are a good investment & a drastic upgrade from stock.

I also have the 444 standard duty 12.5",(1/2 longer than standard) they are great shocks for the money, have limited lifetime warranty. Just returned from a 2000 mile trip with the wife and about 40lb of gear, wound spring tension up to max, bike was maxed out on weight and handled great.

So; put heavy duty 12.5" 430's on the back of the wifes 08 Low Rider; has saddlebags and there's also a Road King trunk on the bike over the rear fender (solo only) she's happy...
Now it's time to replace the stock shocks on my Fat Bob; just saddlebags and a tail bag on my rear fender and I'm 200lbs... thinking 12.5" 444's? Stock or heavy duty?
Would really like to find a pair of 418's for a Dyna, but no luck... long discontinued. Can shocks off an FLH or XL work on an FXD? Still some new 418's around for them.
