i just pulled off my V&H big shots to add the DK torque inserts. is there suppose to be a gasket for the header? i didnt see any gaskets when i took it off, my dealer installed the pipes new.
There should be some woven screaming eagle gaskets in there. You will need to get them out. You would surely have known had they not been there. They fit tight so they won't just fall out.
Ok so after a closer look I see the gaskets now. So my question now is, do I need to replace them or can I just bolt the headers back on? Only about 600 miles on the bike.
ehhhhh, you could probably get away with just leaving them; I've done it before. Should you get new ones, Yes. I think they're about $15, not too much for peace of mind.

I've reused the gaskets, once because I was too dumb to pick them up ahead of time and the bike needed to hit the road in the morning, and once because I was lazy. Didn't have any leaks. Still, I'd rather put in new ones since they're cheap enough.
guess ill run to the dealer in the morning. cant ride it now anyways so its not like i dont have the time to get the gaskets. i was just excited to see what is sounds like with the new torque inserts.
ill get a extra set while im there...
Careful with the install, those flange nut's have to go down evenly and they torque to only 100 INCH pounds.
p.s. You'll need the flat gaskets not the wedge
Just picked up the gaskets, they did try to sell me the wedge gaskets. That's what they put in there when they installed my pipes. That may be why the flange nuts felt really loose when I took the pipes off. I asked for the SE gaskets and they are flat.
