Default Another stripped bolt

So I've managed to strip the t47 torx screw closest to seat holing the rear fender on the strut. I have the quick detach on the back for a 2up sissy bar.

Where can I order a new torx bolt to replace the one I stripped. I managed to get the bolt out btw. Thanks

Just walk into an Ace hardware and pull one out of the drawer.

Well if you had put what bike you have that would help. But John is right, there's nothing special about the bolt you won't find at an Ace.
So, your options; Go to Ace, Go to your dealer, Or search here: http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc

I am suggesting you need to get better tools or learn how to use the poperly. I think better tools is the correct answer. If you strip more than one there is a problem. Wrong size or cheap set will do it. Ace is the place for bolts.
we have all done one. I usually replace torx bolts with allen when they strip.

"Stripping" a bolt is the term when the threaded portion of a fastener or receptacle (male or female) has had its threads pulled or cross threaded.

"Camming out" a fastener is the term used when an internal wrenching socket (Allen, Phillips, Torx, etc.) head of the fastener has been distorted to render the fastener unusable.

"Rounded off" a fastener is the term used when an external fastener (hex head bolt) head has been distorted to render the fastener unusable.

I'm guessing the OP cammed out his Torx bolt by the wrong selection of tools?

Torx bits are superior to allen bolts in many situations. The problem is that most (99%) people don't have appropriate tools for torx. Craftsman, Kobalt, etc are not hard enough steel. Snap On GOLDS and the Cornwell USA (not VIM rebrands) are the only ways to go.

Go out and purchase a hand driven impact tool along with the proper bits. That way you can shock and break the bolts loose before trying to removing them.

I've always referred to all three as "stripping." Thank-you for the info!
