What is the main objective, just a different look, better sound. Or just something different?
the fitment is very close to the same on all Dyna bikes mostly. Years may cause a problem. I put my v&h 2 into 2 off the 2010 on the 2005 super glide. Not a problem with fitment. In other words look at different years to see if ya like somthing.
Little more sound is the objective. Also wasn't sure if the earlier years fit the later years?
2006-present. The exhaust interchange. Although the heat shields from a forward control bike will need to be clearance at the mid controls to fit without rubbing.
There "may" be an exception or two to this that I am not aware of.
Have you thought about SE mufflers, they add a little more sound but not loud at all. I have a set I used before going to Bassani and the sound was deep

If sound is what you are after you will not find it with ANY stock exhaust. Screamin' Eagle will be a little better but other than that you need to go aftermarket. Now the pocketbook will determine your choice more than anything else.
I think if you are like most of us you want the most bang for your buck and to spend it wisely. If you are just going to do slip ons and leave it alone that's great and you have more control than most of us my experience is most guys start with slip ons the for heat and performance reasons do headers. That ends up changing the sound of the slip ons and then they have to go look for another set and spend another 500 bucks.
Because Ive only done that 4 or 5 times I just went ahead and got my header first and ran stock mufflers. The headers and the mufflers both cost about the same thing.
I just have gotten were I don't like really loud mufflers. I have a 2015 CVO Road Glide. I'm running Rush HO duals that have the crossover. I was running Crusher Mellows behind then but they were to loud for me. I ended up putting my stock mufflers back on and drilling a 3/8 in hole in the restricter plate . It's quiet at idle and quiet cruising the highway but has a nice mild rumble when I get on it.

The best, easiest and cheapest way to get better sound is to switch out the baffles in the stock pipes. Cost: $50 or less, 1.5hrs of work including celebratory beer.
Ive done it to both of my Dynas and the sound is perfect for me. Loud...ish, but not harsh.
Do a search on baffles on here and you'll find a bunch of threads.
If you find some slip ons from earlier years they will work with your stock head pipes. I have an extra set that I manipulated the baffles in, they're off an 04 and the only major difference from my 06 is the length. They are a few inches shorter but worked just fine with the 06 hardware.
