Default 2000 FXDL wire harness

Ok, so got new T-bars, front turn signal relocation kit, grips etc. Got the bars installed in about 1.5 hour (first time ever wrenching on a Harley, only Jap bikes and boats and diesels prior too). So that wasn't so bad, but the damn harness deutch plugs are all the way back in the rear fender I'm told. So after researching, I see a lot of people suggest not to cut and either soldering or adding another plug up front to make the job 10 times easier. Any reasons as to why? I saw one post about rust but if you properly install a deutch plug and or solder and heat shrink the wires, why wouldn't you just do that versus removing the back tire, the tank etc?? Anybody done this? Give me some stories.... yea or na

The plug for the front light/handle bar are under the tank, and yea install a new connector on your new wires.

Where under the tank? Only connectors I've found are in the back bone behind the access panel in the rear fender?
