Default Old fat guy needs seat with back rest

I have a 2012 WG and bought a touring (?) seat from the dealer, it's ok but that's about all.

Since I added the apes I'm finding my back get sore after maybe a 75 to 100 miles or so.
Past experience tells me a back rest would help.

Looking for decent seat for someone 6'1" and 260#, adjustable be nice.

Any suggestions?
Kind of looking at the Mustangs, but not familiar with them.

Definitely go for the Mustang Wide Vintage with the backrest option. Great seat for longer rides. You will be satisfied.

I am over 60, 6' 1" and 280 and I had a Sundowner but it was not good for long rides so I got a Mustang Wide Vintage. Great seat, very comfortable. It really seemed hard and like it would be uncomfortable at first but it wasn't. Did a 1500 mile round trip right after I got it without any issues at all. I do not have a backrest but it can only make the seat more comfortable.

Can't speak for Dyna seats, but I have a Mustang solo w/backrest on my SG and I love it. It's all-day comfortable. But seats are subjective...what works for some may not work for others.

Default Beware

Make sure the seat will work with your apes Don t matter who makes the seat.If the bars pull you forward you need a seat that does the same.So on with height or maybe moving you back more.Just been down that road trying to find a seat to match my bars. Also, sitting still on a seat\bar combo is not the same as cruising down the road at 65.It sounds like your apes are pushing you back further on the bike hence a seat that will also move you back. Just my experience with a similar situation. Good luck

I like my Corbin Solo touring seat. I've got one with the back rest and couldn't be happier. I don't know how tall your apes are but I've got factory mini apes with 2" riser extensions on my Street Bob.

I have to agree, the mustang wide vintage solo with backrest is my all time favorite seat. I am 5' 11" and 260lbs. This seat offers great support, is wide enough to give support everywhere needed and the back support is great, it does have adaptability.

I rode my son's Low Rider with 14" apes for a few months and hated it. They just put my arms in the wrong position which caused my shoulders and back to ache after a couple of hours. There just was no settling in and getting comfortable for me on that bike with that setup.

I have the 2" risers with factory minis on my SG. The Mustang seat moved me forward and up a little which worked out well for highway pets on the engine guard. I ride comfortable for hours laid back with my legs stretched.

I've got a Saddlemen Explorer with the backrest. I like it (the seat, the backrest not so much), but I'm kind of skinny - it's not any wider than the oem seat. I only really use it for two-up riding these days, as I've settled on a Mustang Cyclone (a thin little solo with no backrest).

A couple of my bigger mates swear by the Mustang Wide Vintage, but no backrest so can't comment there.

if you didn't hurt before, maybe the apes are the problem, had them on a fxd and changed them out for road king bars, much better for me

You're in luck Al...

I happen to have a Mustang Wide Vintage seat, with backrest. I rarely use the backrest, but I did use it for the trip to Sturgis this year and I have to admit its really nice, even for a young pup like me.

For the price of approximately 1 beer and the time it takes to switch seats I'd be happy to let you try it out on your ride.

This is the one I have, I think. Mine came with my bike when I bought it. Damn, they're expensive.
