I agree with what you are saying, but some powder coating is fairly bombproof and can handle the heat. He was looking for ideas/suggestions, thought I'd share a trick I learned along the way. Sounds like he ended up in a harder spot than originally communicated and now needs a new lever period.

it also makes them difficult to break off unless you are a seriously torquing them down on them way too much...
