Problem is on the internet,

everyone wants to be smart because there is no face to face contact

and no one wants to offer any help or assistance.

Mokey, I was following this thread from the beginning.

When I read your comment (above), I had to go back
and read it all over from the beginning.

I do not see one, not one, comment that would be considered
as any sort of threat to your intelligence and/or manhood.

(And, by the way,I would have absolutely no problem repeating
anything that was said above your posting, right to your face.)

When I started ridin, I didn't even know what a starter button was
for four or five years. I like my starter button, but,
I would like it even more to see you succeed in your kStart endeavor.
Put one of them fudgesickle pedals on it.
They are more comfortable to the sole of your foot.

One problem with the kStarters is riding with a group.
Especially if you go real old school with some Truett Osborne stroker wheels.
So then you come out of the bar, everyone hits their start buttons,
loud pipes, and it really gets hard to hear what's goin on when
you kick it through. The sound is part of the science of kickstarting.

But, if you don't thicken up your skin a bit, you'll be
ridin alone, so that won't be a problem.

Attaching a picture of my very first kStart machine.
She was twelve years old when I got her,
but she always fired rightup on the first lick uh kick.

Well I never owned a kicker HD but I have kicked on plenty of dirtbikes and the like...I suppose its up to what the individual wants on their scoot. I think it might be kinda cool to see a"modern day" scoot with a kick start. Night Trainsride is prettyT-I-T lookin. However,I also agree with mud when he says you have to be able to "listen" to where the motor is when kicking... and depending on conditions... that aint always real easy.
Personally after years of playing Baseball and Football, Airplane jumps in the Army Airborne, running everyday in the military, and chasing the occassional felon over hill and dale for the past 12 years my knees and ankels are happy to "hear" the whine of a starter button.
I also am the only one whoworks on my bike unless its something I just dont have the tools for then the stealer gets a crack at it. Not intending to hijack here just my $.02

I couldn't agree more, "you have to be able to listen to the motor"
It took me a couple hundred attempts at it to understand what the motor was telling me before it would start.......mine has a sweet spot, I now know exactly where that is....how it sounds and how it feels, no more endless kicking........
The first three months I had the bike running I wanted to throw the trans and the kicker straight into the garbage and replace it with a 5 or 6 speed with a great big juicy starter......

Kick starting a bike is a great workout. I love the kickstarters too, but they are not going to look right on a new bike.

Mokey,
Seriously man, People told you that it was possible and people have done it, your question was answered, then they asked the same thing I will ask, Why the hell go back to the kickstart? and then said, It is easier and probably cheaper to just buy an old bike to kick when your urge hits. Nobody was bashing you or challenging your manhood. Yeah your a tuff guy, we get it, now stop being so emotional.

Holy old posts batman! Belzebu, you might want to check the date on this post. Its almost 4 years old and the original poster hasn't been on this site in almost 3 years. Glad you worked out your own kicker, but you might want to start a somewhat newer thread about it, some people might be interested in doing such a conversion.

I see this thread is a few years old, but I disagree with all of you. Mokey I have an 09 Dyna with a throwback look. The kick starter will add to the nostalgia without having to buy a bike older than I am with all of the problems.. If you have some pics I'd love to see them

Default Kickstarter for my 09 streetbob?

Has anyone ever added a kickstarter to their new model? I want to add kickstarter as an option to my 09 streetbob but cannot find any information about it. Anyone know where I can buy it and have it professionally installed?
