Primary stuff
So, coming from the old school of "when in doubt, do something" I was milling about in my primary and decided to do some improvements.
I was oh so close to doing some motor work. Let's just get it out in the open "I'm Suede and I have a power problem". There, it's out in the open, I said it.
I wanted to increase my power, even had ordered and received an S&S 106" and was going to have some headwork done but have since returned the kit because I jumped my own gun.
I want more power and lots of it but had to be honest with myself that I wasn't exactly sure where I wanted to go with this quest. I didn't want to go as far as tearing the motor down to have the bottom end built to withstand the power I wanted so I had to backtrack.
I think you have to have a good foundation before you start building lest ye build on shaky ground.
So I realized that it's winter and idle time is the devil's playground so I had to keep my hands busy so I decided to strengthen the primary area.
So, I'll show you what I'm doing presently and we'll slowly see what pans out.
I am presently removing bits to install the Baker Attitude Adjuster. As you can see in exhibit 1 my primary chain is tight, real tight. The OEM stock adjuster I believe shows no mercy in tightening the chain, which can cause problems on the bearings.
Moco sells a SE version of the manual adjuster but I decided to go with Baker, and for those of you that haven't checked it out, Baker has them marked down to I believe, $155.00 right now, Ho Ho, and Ho!
So, we all like fat to chew on and it's the holidays so, for the moment, chew some fat and we'll just see where this rabbit hole leads us

The OEM adjuster self-adjusts and can over tighten itself causing undo wear on the clutch and main bearings.
If one were to ride gingerly this may not be a concern but if one hammers it on occasion it may be.
My bike is Charcoal Pearl.

Does the paint on your bike have any purple in it? It kind of looks like that in the photo.
SBM, I'm not sure where you're headed but I managed to install my baker adjuster without pulling the comp and basket. I slid it behind the chain in pieces and then put it together.
PS, I just want to subscribe to see where you go with this.....

Following this with great interest, that's the next upgrade this winter. I do know the manual adjuster is superior, I'm watching how this install goes... winter, the time we all go crazy
