Suede... check the splines on your inner clutch hub, closest to the IPB... I'll wager they're fractured off, about the first 3/8 of an inch or so.

That HD auto-tensioner is crap, and the overly tight chain will fracture those splines. I installed a Hayden tensioner on mine in August. ( new inner clutch hub... etc...etc. )

You've already got the SE comp sprocket, good move.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give it a good going over, chain was plenty tight.

Awesome man! You'll have one solid primary. Won't have any problems w/ slipping or getting into hear during a quick getaway.

Nicely done

Here now read this thread and we can follow along with a motor build too

Great choice on the bandit, smooth as silk, no slipping at all

it seems ridiculous that a tensioner could exert enough force on the chain to breAK Spines, only the motor create enough force to do that, sounds like the issue would be driving style or too much motor power rather than a tensioner. the tensioner & chain should have plenty of oil so it shouldn't be creating much drag on the chain. Plus the chain can't be stretching that much where the tensioner is going to change position much anyway. Maybe the tensioner pad wears and may need replaced but other than that...?

Ridiculous or not Lunatic... it's what is happening, and it's happening across model lines since '07. ( when the auto-tensioner started) Don't really care if you believe it or not... I've talked to a lot of people, and read a lot of posts where this is happening. That tensioner will ratchet and lock.. it doesn't turn loose

But then again, the MoCo is great at making the stock items substandard and then convincing you to buy the "SE Performance" parts... when that's what should have come stock in the bike anyway... ie - compensator sprocket for example..
