I have been looking at the Thor bags for the Low Rider. I do not want to relocate my turn signals. I don't think it looks right. Anyone install these without relocating them. The photo of the Thor bags on there website clearly shows them on a LR with the signals in the original location but the "chat" guy says they must be relocated?
I've got to tell you, for the price of those bags, the quality is surprisingly good. I put a set on a Sporty makeover I did a few years back. They worked out real well and looked great.
However there can be issues in dealing with Viking. They have sent out flawed bags, that may need to be exchanged. They frequently screw up orders and don't ship everything, or wrong parts. You sometimes can't get issues resolved by email or phone and have to post your gripe here to get a response. LOL, then they always tell you to email them to keep their dirty laundry from the public's eyes. So they're not known for great customer service, but they're not thieves and will eventually right you if things do go wrong.
I wasn't exempt from such issues. I had to re-rivet a couple places on the straps and the Velcro hold. They also failed to send my turn signal relocation brackets. Then I got chrome instead of the black I originally ordered, then I got the black.
Recently I mentioned Viking Bags to a friend of mine that just bought a new Fat Bob. But I did advise him of my issues as well as others I've read here on this forum. So he decided to call to check stock, then drive to Viking to be able to inspect the painted hard bags and hardware before buying. All checked out well so he bought them. Unfortunately when he was showing them to me, we realized there were no keys. So he had to go back later to pick up the keys.
And speaking of keys, for some idiotic reason, each bag requires a different key. So you'll need to mark them accordingly, so you know which key is for which bag. Why they don't correct that, I can't understand. Just too cheap I guess.
Thanks for the kind words. We're still working very hard to improve our products. Trust me when I say that we've spent countless hours on new R&D to try and improve existing products and offer the best priced bags. While our Hard Bags did have some issues in the initial ones offered, We're proud to say that ALL the issues are sorted out now. With Mskirwin, we've actually reached out half a dozen times and resolved the issues. As far as the different keys, we're also working on that. We're excited to share our 2016 product lines, think lots of solo bags and new hard bags...
We are a bit short staffed at times with our customer service reps, but we understand it's almost impossible to get them all.
Got my bags the other day. They look beautiful and fit perfect with the quick disconnect system. Only one issue I had was the kit came with 2 3/8 docking mounts and 2 5/16 mounts. I needed all 4 to be 3/8. Nothing my 3/8 bit and drillpress couldnt handle!
I bought Viking bags for my 2005 lowrider and I like them. I had to install a rear light relocation kit, but at least there was an indentation for the shocks.

yes, I'm pretty sure that photo on their website is photoshopped, if you notice it shows the bags in front of the shock, the brackets supplied will not do that because the bags would have to stick 5 inches off the fender strut,
you could get a tail light with integrated turn signals, then you wouldn't have to use the ugly relocation kit. Or come up with another clever way to mount signals.
I have the thor bags, luckily I have the boat-tail fender so I was able to relocate the signals to the back fender bolt and it still looks stock.

I purchased large bags for my 07 fxd and for the first three mouths they were good bags. As many have said their mounting hardware isn't very good but I don't know about their quick detach setup. Their customer service wasn't good, they accidentally sent me two sets of bags and had no idea when I called them, I sent the second set back and then the threads stitched into the tops of mine began to come apart about 4 mouths in and their customer service folks said it wasn't warrantied. Other than the issue with the tops coming apart they have been okay. I emailed them about the thread issue but no one ever responded, looks like I should have posted it here, lol. I am currently looking for a leather shop to restitch the bags lids together. All in all, if they have made the improvements mentioned they are worth a shot.
I have a set of the LAM500L bags in my shop now waiting on hardware that will actually fit them. What Viking sent wouldn't come close to fitting the cut out backs of their own bags. After reading on the forum I ordered a set of Easy Mounts.

Hey, so what your opinion on the quality of those lid hinges?

The Bags look to be quality made, including the hinges. But keep in mind that this is the first bags I've ever purchased. The hardware was a good inch to long to fit anywhere on the bag with the bottom cut out shape of the bag,

Thanks, good to know, it's a good looking bag. Hopefully the new hardware works out for you.
