Default Dyna Wide Glide Question

I was hoping I could get some info on the way a FXDWGI handles at high speeds. I have a 2004 WG and noticed at 90 mph the front end gets real light on the road. The feeling starts around 80 mph but is manageable. When I hit 90 mph it feels really light and I run out of nuts The speed doesn't bother me but falling off at that speed concerns me. Any other WG owners experienced the same thing??

Thanx, nod

Yes I found a similar problem. It corrected itself when I slowed down!

Yep, I know what you are feeling. I also have a 2004 FXDWGI. I just got used to it.

Thanks for replying. I figure part of the "wobble" is caused by me due to the wind at that speed. Do all bikes in the Dyna family handle like this?

Part of this is due to the narrow 21" front tire. The Lowriders and Super glides with the 19" wider tire don't seem to have this tendency.

Regards,

Bill

I have a lowrider and haven't noticed any problem at high speeds. Have only been up to 100 but she was handling fine.

I've got an 05 FXDWG, and its slightly wobbly around 90+. This speed is a little exsessive on a Harley, anyway. Just think short bursts...

I don't ride at 90 mph. Was just trying to see how fast it would go on the highway. If traffic is lite and moving well on the highway, I ride at 80 -85 mph. At that speed I would say I had a slight wobble but at 90 the wobble was enough to get my attention. It's been many years but I don't remember my 84 Sportster wobbling that bad. Maybe I was just "braver" back then

I have an 06 WG, and I dont notice it at all. I am however used to my XL1200C at those speeds, so any wobbley feeling this "big" wideglide may produce is minimul at best to me. The WG rides like a Cadilac in my opinion. The21 inchfront tire is prone to more "wobble" than the smaller tire on other models. A fork brace will help cureit if you want. Again, I am used to the Sportster, so if there is any wobble on my WG, I dont notice it.

BTW, 90 MPH on the highway here in SoCal is average speed!
