Default Potential Wide Glide customer

Looking to purchase an '06 Dyna Wide Glide and have questions about long distance travel. Does anyone have problems with heavy vibration over 65-70mph? I don't mind vibration around town but wondered if it'd be bad on say a 12 hr trip? 75% of my riding is going to be short rides...which is why I want a great looking "street bike"...but I want to know if there is annoying vibration over 70mph? You can't beat the look of a WG but comfort on long rides is important to me. Thanks fellas. --Rob

Vibration!? ****...its rubber mounted exactly the same as the touring models...It also had a 6 speed transmission, which the touring models don't have to cut down the engine rpms at those cruising speeds. You'll get the least vibes of all the Harleys from the new Dynas. It'll shake its *** off at the stop light, but once you start moving it disappears. Dynas are for riding, Softails are for looking, and Touring are for just that. Can't go wrong with a Dyna. This question only has relavence in say the softail line up.

Very smooth. Feels great at highway speeds. Ask any '06 dyna owner, it's all the same frame and drive train. But you might want to replace the stock seat for trips that long!

No vibration or wobbles at any speed. That raked out front end is made for high speed. The wide glide rides like a caddy, especially with a passenger.

If you want a vibration free bike........get a Honda.......Harley's are a loud, harsh, brutish, heart pounding, tire smoking, motorcycles when you compare them to the other bikes out there. They are that way on purpose. I just had mine upgraded to stage 1 so it's louder, harsher, and more brutish and faster as well. It's what the Harley Davidson experience is all about. The touring bikes are still a little bit "stronger" behaving than their metric counterparts. I would test drive a few befor you buy. My $.02.

Long distance on a wide glide is easy..but you're going to have to invest a little extra cash. Get yourself a windshield for travel over 65mph...get a new seat because the stocker sucks and I couldn't imagine using it for more than an hour or two...and any kind of luggage that suits your needs/style. Those few investments will give you the best of both worlds....i.e. the coolest looking bike in harley's catalog...and one you can ride all day as far as you want.

I have an 05 Wide Glide and rode to Myrtle Bike Week and back- 470 miles each way...very comfortable trip. Seat is large and pretty comfy for a stock seat.I can only imagine what a Mustang seat might be like. As far as vibration, I encountered none...even cruising at 80 MPH.

Like others have said only vibrates at a stop. I have cruised at 85mph with no sign of a wobble or shimmy on my 06 WG.Though I preffer to cruise around 60 on back country roads (more scenic). I also have no windshield and riding on a stock seat. I have done 600 mile days and it gets a bit rough. If you plan to do 12 hour rides I highly recomend a different seat. Im not into windshields I find a tool bag mounted above my headlamp cuts down the wind some. But riding Nebraska on a windy day straight into it gets rough quick but is a blast. Over 7k miles on my WG and loved every mile, can't wait to get home in Sept to ride some more.

Happy trails on whichever ride you decide on.
