06 SB remove front forks?

Piece of cake.
You should get a service manual for your bike-torque settings very important-
Get you bike on a lift
remove front wheel and fender
at this point do not squeeze the front brake-to keep caliper open for reinstallation
remove brake caliper from fork slider and set off to side securely
loosen triple clamps just a little-one side at a time until forks slide right out

If you are getting the lowers powder coated, im guessing that you want to separate them from the inner (upper) tubes The service manual is actually a pretty good reference for this type of stuff. But here is a video showing the basics of separating the upper and lower fork tubes. Keep in mind that there might be some minor differences with your tubes from the video and also be VERY careful to not scratch your inner tubes or you might have a seal leak when you reassemble it. Take your time and have fun with your project! Its a 3 part video so open it in youtube to watch all three videos.
