Im not afraid of the job. Ive done a quite a few primary overhauls. What Im most concerned of is the cost.

Do you mean cost of parts to switch back to mids?

Im talking about the need for a new inner primary. The controls I have to buy one way or another. The inner primary is a big ticket item. I see no reason why he would have to change the primary but then I can't think of a reason why anyone would want to hack off the existing shifter arm either. I guess ill just have to wait and see.

If the shifter shaft is still in there the inner primary wouldn't need to be replaced. The harley kit to switch from mids to forwards doesn't change inner primaries. Some people change the inner and outer primary when switching to forwards for aesthetics, but it isn't necessary. If they didn't change the outer primary, I can't imagine they'd change the inner primary.

Odin510 Is correct. If you have a plug now, you wont have to change covers because your bike originally came with mids so all you will need is the mid kit. Do you remember if the plug is flat or is it more like a cap? If it is protruding out kinda like a axle cap then most likely the shaft is still there and you wont need to do anything with the primary. If the plug is flat/flush with the outer cover then the shaft has been removed and the primary has to come apart to get a new shaft in there. Either way you just need the kit so you're good

If you have the shaft just buy my mids that I just pulled off. I have the highway pegs to go with them.
